JASPER (AP) — A Jasper man will serve 25 years in the state penitentiary for the killing of his father.
Circuit Judge Hoyt Elliott sentenced 23-year-old Christopher Charles Robinson to the prison term for the 2011 murder of his father, Hubert Cecil Robinson.
The Daily Mountain Eagle reported that Robinson had pleaded guilty to one charge of murder and one charge of first-degree theft of property for stealing his father's truck.
Prosecutors said Robinson hit his father repeatedly with his fist and a barstool at his Jasper residence on June 4, 2011, and was arrested by Missouri State Police on June 5, 2011, and extradited back to Walker County.
The victim was found alive and transferred to local hospitals and a nursing home, but he died later from complications of the injuries.
