BIRMINGHAM — A preliminary hearing for former Decatur pastor Terry Greer has been set for 1:30 p.m. on March 21 in Circuit Court Judge Shelly Watkins courtroom in Birmingham.

Greer is charged with the murder of his wife, Lisa Greer, and attempted murder of his daughter, Suzanna Greer, on Jan. 10. Police said Greer shot his wife and daughter in the parsonage of Gardendale-Mount Vernon United Methodist Church, where Greer was pastor at the time. He transferred there last year after spending eight years at First United Methodist in Decatur.

Court records filed Thursday showed that Terry Greer participated in the brief court session earlier this week after being jailed in the January slaying of wife Lisa Greer.

Greer is jailed without bond after spending almost two months hospitalized while recovering from a suicide attempt the day of the killing.

Records show Greer was informed of the charges and told he has a legal right to remain silent.

Why? does the daily keep printing an article a day on this guy? He is no different than than any murder his former job title has no bearing in this.

sounds like a conspiricy to me

This is newsworthy for Decatur, as this man was a religious leader in our community. He pastored a church here until last year, so there are many in our city who knew him, who were members of his church, and many who thought very highly of him. The Greers had many friends and acquaintenances here, where they were respected leaders,, friends, neighbors, parents and students.. There are many here who still care very much about this family, and the tragedy they have been through. That's why it is reported in our paper, and should continue to be reported. If it doesn't interest you, don't read it.

Frances were you also a fan of Jim Jones? The man murdered his wife and tried to kill his daughter. He is a worthless coward that should have been allowed to bleed out. Now we the tax payer will be paying his way for the next twenty years.

Jackson, do you know if there were other circumstances that lead up to what happened? And I do believe the laws says INNOCENT until proven guilty......
