big shock Billy didn't show up. he seems like he's sick of this job. maybe someone, or a group of someones, is forcing him to keep running for an office he doesn't want? Of course councilmembers with like ideas have always discussed privately everything before they take anything public.

WHY don't we just hire a Mayor who is capable of doing the job?? Novel idea, huh?? STANDFORD, RESIGN NOW!!

Ok,so how do you pay for this? Are you cutting the Mayor's pay? Come on guys, you say this does not reflect on Don, but why are you asking this now, why didnt you propose this at the start.

What would this accomplish? This person would be an assistant and an assistant does what the person they assist tells them to do? How is this going to help? What Decatur needs is a new mayor and council.

I think JR's idea is the best i've heard.Get a new Mayor that has the capabitiy of doing the job!!!!!!! Mr Mayor you are in over your head resign and admit your mistake of taking a job you can't handle!!!!!!!

What we have to do is get a hold of our Senators and Congressmen to form a recall in the constitution of Alabama. I understand there is none now , so let's make it posible , hurry the process , and prevent this in the future.

I agree with J R as well. Our good mayor does need help, but not this kind of help.

I like Option D, replace the Mayor and City Council with people who have a least a small degree of intelligence and common sense. An adminstrative assistant for a moron doesn't help, because the moron still makes the decision and we all know that our Mayor needs all the help he can get.

Our former mayors before Kyle had no problem running the city

we need to pooper scoop the mayor and council ....adding more morons is like adding more flies to a dog pile....

Most counties and some cities pay employees on a similar pay plan as the State employees. An administrative assistant can hire in for 3 different categories: ASA I, ASA II, or ASA III. The ASA I requires only a diploma or GED and 6 months of experience, the pay range is roughly $20k - $33k per year. The ASA II requires a diploma or GED and 3 yrs experience with a pay range of $22k - $36.5k per year. The ASA III requires a high school diploma or GED and five years of progressively responsible clerical experience. Examples of responsible experience might involve such tasks as developing forms, maintaining data bases, supervising clerical staff, preparing reports and correspondence, determining eligibility or new policies, and training new clerical employees. The pay range for this is $25,821.60 - $43,339.20 annually.

"Smith said the position would likely have a lower salary range than a city administrator, as well." Well duh, an ASA or administrative assistant is a SECRETARY!!! Obviously, that person should have a lower salary than an administrator. Most administrator jobs range from $50k - $90k. Why would anyone even question the fact that an assistant would be paid less? Decatur citizens need to watch this one closely...they are going to try to pull one over your heads again. I predict that your "great" council is going to hire someone unqualified and pay them well above the average pay scale. Seems to be the normal around there.

I see nothing wrong with an assistant to the Mayor. Most Mayors have an assistant. I think the people of Decatur are now focusing in on the real problem here. The city council. You have a few bad apples (JACKSON for one) that are not willing to let go of the power he once had. And there are others that are looking after their own interest. You have someone like Reeves come in and start trying to uncover and fix issues and the good old boy system in this city is fighting it tooth and nail. OPEN YOUR EYES DECATUR.

Unbelievable, really unbelievable! What is next? These clowns are embarrassing!

Bubba still wants answers about the taxpayers paying Gail over 93 thousand dollars. No more spending until that question is answered.

11/3/O9

why do we need 3 supervisors to run the mayor office. This will cost the city and the tax payers about 300,000 thousands. If the mayor cant run the office he needs to resign and get out. Don Kyle didnt need a new supervisorto help him during his term.. Also, the mayor needs to pay the city back all the money that Mrs Busbey received when she got fired. This city has really gone backward the last year. Who wants to move to Decatur with all these problems in our city goverment. I am sick and tired of this city council and mayor. Resign and get out before more damage is done.

WHOA!

The only assistance the Mayor needs is help to find a resination form. And maybe someone to explain where to sign.

Jean E got it right!

I think this is just another of Reeves brainstorms. How much will it cost the tax payers. He is out to rob us and the city and thinks he is smart enough to do it. He is is double dumb... There is not much need of anyone going to counsil meetings because like someone said the four dumbie's have already had their meeting in private. How crooked can you get. ???

So, Reeves is getting rid of the good old boys. Well we the tax payers are happy with the good old boys.. Reeves wants to fire all of them and give his family their jobs. The mayor acts only when Reeves tells him to.... How sickening.

There will be a big turn over next election day..
