Boys basketball player of the week
Nathanial Potts, Athens: The junior guard continues to put up some strong numbers.
He paced Athens with 21 points and seven rebounds in a win against Austin, and scored 10 in a win against Russellville.
Girls basketball player of the week
Adrien Coffey, Lawrence County: Coffey recorded back-to-back doubles in the Lawrence County tournament, helping the Red Devils win a second straight title.
She finished with 25 points and 15 rebounds against East Lawrence, and followed with 23 points and 19 rebounds against R.A. Hubbard.
Honorable mention
Boys basketball
Coty Benitez, Brewer: Gave the Patriots a strong performance in the opening round of the Morgan County tournament, scoring 23 points in a win against Priceville.
Greg Maclin, Tanner: Finished with a double-double against Madison Academy, scoring 19 points while grabbing 10 rebounds.
Girls basketball
Destiny Bailey, Athens: Paced Athens with 17 points in a loss to Austin. She also scored 14 to help the Golden Eagles beat Russellville.
Tyra Johnson, Austin: The freshman gave Austin a pair of strong performances, scoring 25 in a win against Athens and 10 in a win against Wenonah.
