In our next installment of looking in to the war on women, Mr.White will tell us how partial birth abortion bans are forcing women to have drug addicted babies.
The libs tell us a fetus is not a child, so which is it. You can't have it both ways, can you??
I think that's his point. His client didn't harm another human, only a fetus. His argument is by making it illegal to harm an unborn child, mothers are punished for not having abortions.
Mr. White's mother may not have smoked crack, but apparently he lost a few brain cells somewhere along the way if he expects us to go along with the garbage he's spewing. What a loser.
Comments prove their mom's might have been using.
Bubba just sayin
Marijuana is illegal. I don't care if it isn't considered as "bad" a drug as meth or crack, it is illegal plain and simple. While certainly a drug rehab program is needed for these mothers, no necessarily prison time, unless they are repeat offenders, I find it absolutely absurd that Mr. White is even discussing this. She was doing meth, also illegal, and much more destructive. The issue isn't what effect marijuana has on a baby, the issue is Ms. Kimbrough, meth and the murder of a child. It wasn't a simple testing positive during pregnancy. She KILLED her baby! Not just a fetus, a 2 pound 1 ounce baby.
Nicotine has been PROVEN to cause cancer, which kills millions each year. When will they start arresting the mothers for smoking cigarettes?
Don't forget that alcohol does irreversible harm, far worse than marihuana, cocaine, etc. Do we see prosecutions for mothers who drink alcohol? This law is an example of seeing a problem and taking up a meat cleaver rather than a scalpel.
then you have mothers that are pregnant putting their unborn children in danger with driving reckless, or at high rates of speed....where does it end? There have been plenty of mothers given tickets for speeding or running a light....that too has put the unborn child in danger! Sexually transmitted diseases put the unborn child in danger, are we going to arrest these mothers too????? So I guess my question is; where do we stop holding people accountable? Is this law limited to THC, METH, COKE, ETC....
This is crap, they should prosecute ALL the cases and help some of they poor children get out of these house where they are going to spend their lives around drugs. My nephew was born addicted but since m niece was getting help to stay high by a doctor she got to keep her kid and trust me he pays for it everyday. DHR is the most pathetic excuse for a government agency every especially in Morgan county. All they she has a drug problem and they "schedule" visits. If the worst crackhead in the world knows they are going to lose their government assistance they will clean up if they have a scheduled visit but if the social worker thinks that is stays that way they are STUPID!! And if anyone can explain to me short of the children being injured how to get them to pay attention please post it here.
I say we take all the kids Darren is talking about and give them a safe place where there will always be somebody behind them. I say Charles Kirby's house. He needs something to do since he doesn't work.
I wish that we could take all the newborns and other children, that are in these homes away from all this. If it means putting them into a Home, not a foster home, but something like a boarding school. Here they can go to school, have decent meals and clothes and loving care. Give them a place to stay until they are 18. A home does not have to be a house, a home is where there is love and education. Kids do need a mother and a father, but these children will never know that under these circumstances. I care nothing about rehabilitating the mothers, but I do think they should be put on permanent birth control even in prison.
Yes, there are some children that come out of bad homes and make something of their lives, but not as many as fall through the cracks of drugs.
Who is this "we" to which you refer? I'm reading that "we" need to do this, and "we" need to do that. My impression is that this is the same "we" who consistently votes against strengthening the very social service agencies, law enforcement and court systems that "we" expect should intervene in these situations. "We" who demand that a fetus be treated as a person, until they take breath. Then, "we" judge their fate based on the financial status of their parents. "We" who insist that these children be protected and their parents prosectued, but refuse to fund the agencies charged with doing so. "We" who would quickly agree to remove the liberties of "them" forgetting that "them" would have been many of our own parents in years past. "We" who demand small government, but regularly insist on big government efforts. "We" who claim to know what is best, who insist on zero tolerance, and who could not possibly live up to the same standards. "We" who demand strict, harsh action without regard for the potential negative consequences. "We" are arrogant, reckless, completely lacking of empathy, common sense and are a far greater danger to society than anyone mentioned in this article.
I think Mr. White needs to come spend a day at Huntsville Hospital Neonatal Unit and see firsthand the effects these drugs and the mother's actions have on these innocent babies. They are in pain and cry all day!!! Just heartbreaking how selfish mothers can be. It is sad that adults and society make excuses for this type of behavior. No baby should have to begin their lives on the earth already struggling it is hard enough to make it in the world as it is! BTW, we as taxpayers are having to pay for a prolonged NICU stay ( which is not cheap) because 9/10 are medicaid... When are we gonna say enough already!!!! Frustrated
I am sorry, but I feel that if a mother can put a cigarette in her mouth or remember to sniff a drug, surely she could remember to take a birth control pill. These babies do not deserve this. No, it is not based on any financial status of the parents. Some of these mothers on drugs and pregnant are in their thirties. Yes, they should be prosecuted. Had they been given the type of care that "I" would like to see happen, maybe they would not have ended up where they are. You have choices in life, when you do wrong - it only hurts when you get caught.
