The skinny: This was already one of the area’s most heated rivalries, but this year the stakes are raised. Because Hartselle finished Class 5A, Region 8 play in a three-way tie for second place with Cullman and Russellville, the Tigers’ regular season finale now factors into the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s tiebreakers. Hartselle can finish as the No. 2 seed with a win, but a loss would give the Tigers the No. 4 seed. … Austin running back Josh Walker has more than 1,500 yards of total offense through nine games. … Hartselle’s defense has given up just two touchdowns in the past three games.
