Priceville High finished undefeated in pool play before losing to Madison Academy 2-0 in the semifinals Saturday in a volleyball tournament at Cullman.
Madison Academy won the semifinal match 25-21, 25-15.
Kayla Parton finished with 14 digs for Priceville, while Emily Williams had nine digs and four kills. Alison Varner recorded eight assists and five blocks for the Lady Bulldogs, while McKenzie Parker had five kills.
Priceville 2, Fairview 0: Moore led Priceville with six kills and Varner added five as Priceville won the pool play match.
Priceville won 25-13, 25-20.
Parton led Priceville with 16 digs, while Peyton Parker had 12 assists. Varner added five aces and seven blocks.
Priceville 2, Cullman 1: Varner led the Lady Bulldogs with nine assists and nine kills, while Emilee Cunningham had nine blocks, five kills and four aces.
Parton finished with 14 digs for Priceville, and Peyton Parker had 14 assists.
Priceville 2, Haleyville 1: Varner led Priceville with 10 kills, 13 assists and five blocks.
Priceville won 20-25, 25-20, 15-12.
Williams finished with 17 digs and 10 kills, while Parton had 12 digs. Peyton Parker added 18 assists, and Shayanne Stackhouse had five blocks.
West Morgan falls in quarterfinals: The Lady Rebels finished second in pool play at the Cullman tournament, but lost 2-0 to Madison Academy in the quarterfinals.
Madison Academy won the match 25-23, 25-17.
In pool play, West Morgan beat Boaz 2-0, but lost to Holly Pond 2-1 and to Plainview 2-1.
Annie Homan led West Morgan in the tournament with 41 kills, seven blocks and 23 digs. Mary Kelley added 32 kills, eight blocks and 15 digs, while Candice Davidson finished with 94 assists and four aces.
Alabama Crimson Classic: The Lawrence County girls cross country team finished second at the Alabama Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa.
Hoover’s girls won the team title.
Competing in the Elite Girls 5K, Duranna Thomas led Lawrence County by finishing third overall with a 20:44.
Lawrence County’s Lexie Burfield finished ninth with a 21:07, while Shelton Givens took 12th with a 21:52. Laura Bennet finished 21st (22:56), and CaSandra Minor finished 23rd (23:08).
In the Elite Boys 5K, Lawrence County finished fifth in the team standings. Vestavia Hills won the team championship.
Freddie Shirah led Lawrence County with a 19th-place finish (17:53). Caleb Lipsey finished 24th (18:04), and Luke Hopper took 31st (18:25). Kyle Bailey finished 34th (18:49), and Brandon Landreth finished 36th (18:54).
Scottsboro 57, Brewer 20: Scottsboro used a blistering running game to end an 11-game losing skid, piling up 533 yards on the ground in a Class 5A, Region 7 win against Brewer.
Scottsboro (1-6, 1-4 in Region 7) finished with 656 yards of total offense. The Wildcats led 50-7 after three quarters.
Weston Prichett led Brewer (1-6, 1-4) offensively. He finished with 170 yards and one touchdown on 15-of-28 passing. Nicholas Humphries caught six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, while Brendon Deberry had five receptions for 77 yards.
T.J. Morrow had a rushing touchdown for Brewer, and Kolton Bramlett recovered a fumble in the end zone for the Patriots’ other touchdown
