These signs and others I have seen look wonderful. On this one, and Mr McWhorter certainly has an eye for design, I understand "drumming up" support from community clubs to get these signs financed and agree it is the best way to accomplish this.

I will point out a few suggestions: 1) This particular sign should emphasize Decatur more and less the clubs. A well-intentioned club does not have to have its logo prominently displayed, or shouldn't, to participate financially. What is the purpose of the signs? To me, to add beauty and character. The sign better accomplishes this by focusing on Decatur; not every community club just to get the signs financed. This method may work to get the project accomplished; However, it will do so to the detriment of what it is trying to accomplish aesthetically........2) The design shown pictures a couple of clubs, which are deemed harmless by those whose belong to them or have relatives who do or did. No matter how well-intentioned, these clubs are cults. Enough people know this but will not speak of it. Decatur should question if it wants to public-endorse clubs which fit into this category. The truth may hurt (I know Grandpappy Silas was a 7th level! So was Uncle Buck....he was buried with his ring on!) but it's still the truth.....3) While desirable and adding to the city's look at no extra taxpayer expense (I would hope!), these signs only address the outer beauty and mask the ugly underside of what Decatur really is on the inside. I'm just saying.

With all the b.s. going on in thecity government, do you really think a sign is going to attract new businesses. And now an assistant for a mayor that does nothing. Who's relative is that going to be and how much more will that cost the taxpayer of Decatur? Another time the famous 3 has their head up their butts. If this is what comes out of the first year of this coucnil, in another 3 years Decatur might be looking like Flint, Michigan.

The mayor should pay for these signs with his salary.

it sad when decatur has to ask for money to pay for welcome sigh. i bet if you throw ole mayor a whistle he would make a decision.

Wow Gilbert, I bet you have never heard a conspiracy theory you didn't like.
