If you notice Sheryl prefers the dramatic. I've watched the replays of the County Commission meeting on cable after reading her articles and wondered if she was even in the same meeting. If something doesn't have the potential for drama, she either twists it to try and make some drama or ignores it altogether. It's pitiful really.

Well, I'm a Morgan County resident and I would like to know if one of the elected officials are breaking the law...living outside of the limits. There are a lot of people that don't make 31,000 a year for a part time job. And also, this shows his character as an elected official. Does he not own a car? Can't he take some of that 31,000 and purchase his own vehicle? He has NO business driving a county car, using county gas that tax payers pay for, to a resident outside of the county vehicles limits. And this article shows his lack of integrity. I don't know if the owner of the car is his g/f, but how close do you need to be with someone before you turn your keys over to them? Oh, the wife did mention this lady's name in her divorce, so apparently there is more to this story. And if the wife was so bad, he could have left her years ago, but men aren't going anywhere until they have somewhere to go! Out of all the places in Morgan County he couldn't find anywhere to live? Whatever...but it's so convenient that he found an apartment by his g/f.

If you don't have integrity in a relationship with a person you "supposedly" love, how could you have any integrity in a job or anything else you do in life? I personally, who like to have elected officials I could respect and trust, but looks like these things are hard to come by now days in people. Mr. Beard can either find a place in Morgan County to live and move his g/f here or he can return the County car and purchase his own car and his own gas to travel in. And this extra woman stuff, the wife should try and get half of the part time 31,000 a year! If you will lie to your spouse, you will lie to a stranger on the street. And the old saying is "Scratch a lie, find a thief"....we did that with the Sheriff..

Oh, and another thing....in my opinion, I think a coroner should have some type of medical degree not just John Doe off of the street to call the time of dead. Wonder what Mr. Beard's medical background is? Other than preparing a body for a funeral. Does he actually know what VITAL SIGNS are and how to obtain them?

Law is law. When someone run's and accepts a position as a public servant they know the rules that go with the job. I'm sure there must be somewhere in the county that would suit his standards of living. Taxpayers cover his travel allowance so that can't be a problem for him. What other laws may he be breaking if this wasn't a matter of importance to him. Also, why does he feel he shoud have special that the rules do not apply to him? This is a concern we should all have. His lack of willingness to abide by the law, hopefully doesn't carry over into his work ethics. Where do we draw the line and say this is part of a person's character and this doesn't matter? I for one would like to have a law abiding public official in this position. I would like to have someone with moral character and a desire to follow the law and rules and do the best for our county they can.

Beard has chosen to ignore the state law on this matter. Does any one doubt that he could have found residence in Morgan county had he given it a earnest try? I do not !

How can we treat someone like Russ Beard with so little respect, when he does such a great job caring for our dearly departed loved ones. I for one was very impressed with his kindness, professionalism, and genuine compassion for my famalies situation when my grandmother passed.

Bottom line is Russ is a kind hearted soul and does not deserve to have his private issues splattered across the headlines of the DD. I am completely disgusted!

Sure hope everything turns out OK for him, and his family, in his professional and private life.

He is an elected official that is breaking the law. It is as simple as that.

I'm not a big fan of TDD, but all they were reporting was a news story about a violation of state law; they didn't elicit all of the comments of the past couple of days.

William, I guess we need to take away all the police vehicles from our police and park them in a compound when they are not on duty and live OUTSIDE the city limits. We elected him and he is on DUTY 24/7 which means we supply him transportation 24/7.

He can't drive the county car and now he can't drive another one? He can't win for losing! Who cares if he was driving a woman's car or not. Have you never borrowed a friend's car at one time or another? I don't blame him for borrowing a car from someone. It seemed to be the only way he could get away from the Daily that was following him. Sadly, his evening was interupted by an accident and he and the other individuals involved could have been killed and all you really care about it whether or not he was in his own car. Mr. Beard and the Decatur Police Department showed exceptional kindness and respect to our family that day and in extremely difficult times such as those, kindness is needed. I could have cared less if Mr. Beard lived in the city of Decatur that day and I could care less today. Someone said he works for SCI from Texas. That they own Roselawn. I wonder if those people know what he is doing. I am surprised they would allow a married man to get his girl friend a job where he works. He is still married. Someone said they were getting in touch with SCI.. I haven't heard any more about that. There is no doubt it will hurt Roselawns business.. I guess they will be more careful about who they hire.

Caaaarol.. I'm suspecting that you are a family member or friend of Mr. Beard's wife and you harbor some serious anger issues. I do not know his wife, I do not know him outside of the situation where he performed his job duties exceptionally well in regards to my family. I have no right to judge him, let those without sin cast the first stone and I am not one of those without sin. I do not know why he is getting a divorce nor do I care because it is absolutely none of my business. I do know that just because parents divorce each other it does not mean they divorce the children. What kind of person is he you ask? I dont know because as I stated I do not know him personally and I dont have to know him personally to respect how he performed his job in my case. I do think he should reside in Morgan County, not specifically because it affects how he performs his job but so that all of the nosey busybodies condeming the man will shut up. William, I agree 100%, thats what I was trying to show how our money is being used WITHOUT our input. They say they are on duty 24/7, Sheriff"s deputies, City police, and several County officials. Well that is great but use the vehicles when called only on official duty not running to school or grocery store.

Someone told me that a gal who worked in the cemetery said someone the manager.. of the cemetery at Roselawn was attacking her. What is going on at that place. ??Is the manager Beard or who is the manager of the cemetery. Seems like they have lots of internal problems.

She said the manager was not Beard but a man who was over the cemetery. She told the management and they fired her and gave her some money but not nearly enough for what she went through.

I can't believe all this went on .. in a cemetery. Nothing dull there. She said he drank beer everday in the maintenance building and he attack her in there. Can anyone here telll me what Beard has done (FACT) other than live outside of Morgan county that makes him such a bad person ? I dont see where his personal life has anything to do with this job. We all have a past, and baggage, Not everyone has a wonderful, unscathed life. I mean I know factual things about a city councilman but that doesnt mean I judge his civic duties based on his personal life.

I dont see anywhere on this thread where anyone has said anything an elected official does is OK. In fact, most support the fact that Beard should live in Morgan County. What I also see is a lot of gossip and rumors and conjecture about someone's personal life that have no bearing on whether or not he can perform his job duties as required. It would be nice if there were so few deaths in Morgan County that we would not even need a Coroner but we all know that due to the circle of life, that is not going to happen. On voting day he will have a vote from me because he DID take care of my family. You are right getting a divorce doesn't make you a bad person what makes this so bad is that he is running around on his wife and is still married and a public servant.... lied about where he lived and has done the tax payers wrong. Hey, my wife and I were looking back through Carol's crazy posts and noticed that anything even slightly negative about Mrs.Beard has been removed. We were looking for a post from Curtis. I agree totally with you Johnson. What is the deal with Carol and the thread is finished? Every time I see that in her posts I wonder to myself does she think she is an editor? Then I look at what she has written and realize you cannot be an editor without an education.

Ben/Carol in your previous posts you stated that you had never heard of any business being run where boss's yell and scream at their employees I said I know of some, one is called walmart. I NEVER said Roselawn runs their business LIKE walmart I was just using an example of ANOTHER company that DOES scream at their employee's, its common in the workplace no matter where someone works. You need to read what is typed and UNDERSTAND IT before you came a comment on it. You keep saying SCI needs to do something, Roselawn I imagine is just like any other business if you have a problem there are chains of commands to follow, if you follow them and THEN nothing is done you have one of two choices quit, or hire a lawyer, which I understand this so called woman you say worked there and was fired didnt contact an attorney, so if it wasnt that big of a deal to her why is it to you? and last I checked Roselawn isnt hurting for business in Decatur so I doubt very seriously they will have to close their doors any time soon.

No, Johnson you said Walmart and Roselawn run their business exactally the same. I think someone needs to go to a lawyer and sue Walmart for abuse.. You know that is against the law if they are hollering and screaming at their employees. You are the first person I have ever heard say a thing like that. Word's can abuse and that is against the law. They could probably call the police for harrassment..Only a very ignorant person would do that. Of course, there are those who are ignorant and are not management material and usually fizz out.. Only a person who is not intelligent would conduct themselves in any such amnner.

What does Walmart do to people who steal ?? equiptment and other things. I know what they do.. They don't allow management to drink on the job do they?? what else...

What is disturbing is that the long time manager of the Funeral Home has been fired and now the two mentioned above are running the Funeral Home. The recently fired manager did a good job and was very friendly and reliable.

Curtis, I would like to know the same. The ex sure does seem to have the DD helping with her divorce action. I was at Roselawn two days ago for a funeral. Guess what? It was very well done. The funeral director WAS a woman and her name WAS Susan. I overheard her introduce herself to someone. She was very professional in her manner and dress, and very kind and caring to the family. They raved about her. It is obvious that she is very good at her job. On top of all that, she is stunning (that's the word my wife used) You just can't help but stare. What I saw at Roselawn was the emplyee's working their butts off for that family. Beard was thereand so was Bud Brown. Bud looked as happy as can be
