Sales tax is up because there is a tax on food and medicine. A lot more people are on food stamps and there's where the sales tax is increased. More older people had insurance dropped and must pay full price on medicine to stay alive and that's where your increase in tax is also. GAs prices up and you have to wonder. Is it cheaper to go to surrounding areas that charge less sales tax and spend the money on gas to get there or stay in Dectur, save the price of gas and buy here. Sort of lcaught in between, right?
Thanks Roger Anders for our increased utilities.
more more taxes! wake up sheep
THE HEADLINE IS NOT CORRECT. ACCORDING TO THE ARTICLE AND CHART, SALES TAXES WERE 2.69 MILLION IN 2013, 2.76 MILLION IN 2012. WHOMEVER WROTE THIS ARTICLE DID NOT PROOF THEIR WORK. WHO WANTS TO READ A PAPER THAT HAS SO MUCH INCONSISTENCY??
It says January 2013 sales tax revenue was down from January 2012. Year-to-date sales revenue is up over last year.
