Huh oh, looks like they got caught!
'bout time Alabama schools get caught for not recognizing these disparities in male/female athletic facilities. Ever see facilities for females equal to football stadiums for males? Not so much. Everyone else tries to get by using the same gyms' soccer fields. Check out differences in strength training facilities and locker rooms at these "shared" facilities. Females are usually "happy" to get what they got while FOOTBALL dominates everything.
it's always been about baseball
Title IX has bad! read up on it.
Sounds like as usual the super is violating the law. I have asked the Alabama Board of Education to look into things that are going on in Hartselle City Schools this just adds to the list. When is this school district going to quit violating both State and federal law.
Sounds as if Hartselle School District is still in the stone age. Hopefully the federal government gets involved in this one.
It's not just softball but any girl sport as well as other boys sports...I understand football because it is the biggest fan supported and largest number of players..but my daughters sports are just as important....Equal....I don't understand why boards members that have girls.. should want what's equal for them....even Booth has a granddaughter that plays softball and when she get older she may play school ball and this would benefit her more than my kids...
There will be a law suit if this goes through. If nothing else based on the Title IX part of inconvenience. There is no way anyone could say the girls having to drive up 36 across the railroad tracks, etc is not an inconvenience.
Dig deeper in the pockets of the tax payers and do it right or be sued.
Why don't we make a big deal about nothing!
this may be stupid, may not. But Title IX has done more harm than good!!!!
Guess Greg and Ronald do not have girls that play sports....WHY should the girls always get the JUNK what's left over after "Booth" gets done...or have to drive to batting practice then drive to the fields...who is responsible if there is a wreck with a car load of kids because they have to leave campus during 7th ...

well when girls softball, volleyballor cheerleading brings in the money like football than they can get their own
As usual Hartselle thinking is in the 18th Century.
Should be a special needs softball field, and a special needs baseball field. New equipment and everything.

{“You can have separate facilities at different locations as long as they are comparable and it does not inconvenience either gender,” said Sokolow, executive director of the Association of Title IX Administrators."}
I would say driving to another campus to a building and then on to the field would JUSTIFY inconvenience. How EQUAL is it to have facilities and practice fields for the boys, and not the girls? How can you blame an "interim coach" on a choice such as the location? Softball can "get dressed" for practice at the new school then drive over to the softball building on Sparkman St or over to the softball field? That seems very convenient FOR GIRLS!! I'm not sure how anyone with DAUGHTERS can justify that this is CONVENIENT nor is it FAIR!! The new school was supposed to be the best and greatest thing, but corners keep being cut.
The "interim COACH." HAHAHAHA What a JOKE that was! Why do you think that some of those girls on the team quit last year when they found out who the interim coach was??? They didn't want to take a chance on her being hired as the Head Coach. Thank goodness they hired a REAL COACH with Coach Ferguson! She's the real deal and at least knows how to run a team unlike the interim "COACH" thought she could. Wouldn't answer calls for comment, huh? She knows people have got her number on how she really is.
Good story
Hey "~ from"... STFU until you know what you're talking about... the "interim coach" is YET to be contacted by anyone from DD... especially DeCrapalo. AND how about this... there were exactly NO girls who quit the Sball team... zero. As far as Coach Ferg... low bidder... last choice... train wreck coming.
All that.. plus, your an idoit
Lets see the difference in revenue generated by football versus girls softball.....
WOW. I am shocked to see so many women on this forum are not supportive of girl's sports. Women, not men, are and
will be the reason the our daughters and grandaughters are not given equal opportunities in sports. If women will not stand up for our girls and demand equal facilities than how can we expect it? If women want to always get "what is left over", then continue to look the other way and let men run the show. I feel sorry for those of you with such low self esteem.
Been playing ball for 25 years.....never had a $400 bat......never had a $300 glove......never had a $2M indoor facility. In my experience, it's guts and heart that make an athlete, not gadgets. Because when it comes down to the last man standing, that's all you have to rely on. Why don't we teach our athletes (children, parents, etc.) that blood, sweat, and tears will allow them the possibility of success, rather than the latest and greatest gadget or technique. It is this valuable lesson that will benefit them later in the challenges they will face as adults (as parents, with children). Parents....I beg you, rather that teaching our children a sense of entitlement based soley on gender or name or financial status.....teach them to work for their success.......
