This is absolutely the most asinine thing I have ever heard. Idiots run Hartselle schools.

Asinine to hold it or to argue about having it?

There are lots of these drills practiced across the country, granted, almost all are done in High Schools and not elementary. Nevertheless, the "shooter" does not necessarily need carry a "weapon" simply dress in a color or even a safety vest, carry a means to mark the "dead" and move through the halls and rooms until he/she is stopped or "taken down" by a school official or emergency official. There are ways of carrying this out not meant to terrorize students and teachers BUT can make the faculty and student body aware and ready should this ever happen, God forbid. If nothing is done, the same screaming mass would be once again screaming mass, only the cries would be, "Why were they not prepared?" Lockdown drills are done in the scenario that an unknown has possibly entered the building, not that the unknown is actively inflicting harm upon others.

"comments" seems to know what he/she is talking about. Some very good points by doing research and THINKING about this instead of just being driven by emotion like so many of us.

THIS IS A GREAT IDEA, ALL SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT THE NATION SHOULD PATTERN THEM SELVES BY HARTSELLE'S POLICIES . PREPARENESS IS BETTER THAN THE ATERNATIVE. IF SANDY HOOK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DID MOCK SHOOTHING DRILLS, I GUARENTEE NOT AS MANY CHILDREN WOULD HAVE DIED. ISN'T THAT WHAT IT'S ALL ABOUT?

HAVE A PLAN, BE PREPARED, KNOW WHAT TO DO BEFORE IT HAPPENS. HAVING A MOCK DRILL LIKE THIS MAY EVEN UNCOVER FLAWS IN THEIR CURRENT SYSTEM. I CONGRATULATE THE HARTSELLE SCHOOL SYSTEM FOR BEING THE FIRST IN THE COUNTY TO DO THIS.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
