MONTGOMERY — State Senate President Pro Tem Del Marsh said this morning that early revenue projections for the 2014 general fund budget show it short by “a couple hundred million” dollars.
Speaking to reporters at the Capitol, Marsh said the revenue shortfall will likely result in a mixture of level funding and cuts for non-education state agencies.
About the state Education Trust Fund that supports public schools, Marsh said it was in “decent shape” for 2014.
The Alabama Legislature annual session begins next week.
