Shelton leads Danville over Vinemont
Staff reports

Sydney Shelton’s 19 points, 10 rebounds and four assists led Danville over Vinemont 51-38 Thursday night in the Class 3A, Area 13 semifinals at Good Hope High.

Danville will play Good Hope on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. in the final. The Hawks lost both regular-season meetings between the teams.

Jesse Oliver chipped in with 12 points and six boards for Danville (23-8).

Jordan Melton scored a team-high 16 points for Vinemont.

The Hawks led by six points at halftime and added to their lead in the second half.

Hartselle 51, West Point 39: Quanesha Burks scored a game-high 19 points for Class 5A, Area 15 tourney host Hartselle (16-11).

Hartselle advances to face rival Cullman on Saturday at 6 p.m. in the area final.

Kari Williams and Rachel Persall scored 10 points apiece for West Point.

West Morgan 51, Westminster Christian 34: Annie Holman led West Morgan with 13 points and Sydney Sanders finished with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Hannah Flack chipped in with 10 points.

Jessica Gonder led Westminster with 13 points and Jennifer McFadden had 10. West Morgan advances to play Class 3A, Area 15 tourney host Madison Academy on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the final.

Decatur Heritage 67, Addison 45: Maddie Vinton led DHCA (20-9) with 28 points. Peyton Barthel had 14 points, four assists and three steals. Bekah Voss finished with 10 points.

Lauren Cutcher scored a team-high 17 points for Addison. Stora Gilliland had 10 points.

Decatur Heritage will play tourney host Falkville on Saturday at 4 p.m. in the Class 1A, Area 15 final.

West Limestone 57, Wilson 42: Shelby Clay scored 14 points and Laura Easter added 12 points for the Wildcats, who led 27-17 at the half.

Ciarra Edwards scored a game-high 22 points for Wilson as host West Limestone advanced to Saturday’s championship game against Central.

Priceville 58, East Lawrence 47: Kayla Lucas’ 14 points and 10 rebounds led Priceville as the Bulldogs (10-18) advanced to the Class 4A, Area 15 final at Brooks High in Killen.

Alex Moore grabbed 15 rebounds for Priceville. Jada Beverly had nine points and eight boards.

Angel Bolden and Aundrea Simpson scored 16 points apiece for East Lawrence. Priceville will face top-seeded Brooks on Saturday at 6 p.m.

Tanner 54, Hatton 24: Sydney Houston led Tanner with 21 points as the Rattlers advanced to the Class 2A, Area 15 final.

Tanner advances to face top-seeded Lexington on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Samara French chipped in with 10 points for Tanner.

Mars Hill 57, Clements 33: DaNeshia Malone finished with 11 points for Clements in the Class 3A, Area 16 semifinals.

Top-seeded Mars Hill will face Lauderdale County on Monday at 6 p.m. in the final.

Girls tennis

Decatur 5, Bob Jones 4: Decatur opened its season by winning at Bob Jones 5-4 on Thursday.

Ivey-Katherine Weaver, Anna-Quinn Weaver, Emily Overbee and Julia Riehl each picked up wins in singles. Ivey-Katherine and Anna-Quinn Weaver teamed up to win in doubles.

Decatur (1-0) will host Buckhorn on Monday.
