Priceville wins
8th-grade title
The Priceville eighth-grade boys basketball team captured the Morgan County Junior High Championship on Jan. 19 with a 54-27 victory over the West Morgan Rebels in the finals at Falkville High.
The Bulldogs finished the season with a 20-4 record, going undefeated in conference play. Players include Brandon Speegle, Devan Coleman, Aubrey Richardson, John Williams, Andrew Hester, Eli Freeman, Will Hughes, Dylan Cross, Dalton Southerland, McClain Thompson, Travis Budaslich, Tyler Williams, Andrew Budaslich and Hunter Smith. J.R. Dilbeck is the coach.

n The Point Mallard Golf Course will host the two-player Polar Open scramble on Saturday with an 11 a.m. shotgun start. Breakfast will be served from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m..

n The Morgan County Park and Recreation is forming an adult church kickball league, with all games being played in March.

n The Calhoun Community College softball program is hosting a rookie softball clinic Feb. 3 at Carlton Kelley Gymnasium on campus.
The camp is for girls ages 5-8, and will be from 2-4 p.m.
Calhoun’s coaching staff and members of the softball program will be working as the camp’s instructors.
Preregistration is available for $25 if payment and application are received by Thursday. On-site registration will begin Feb. 3 from 1:30-1:45 p.m. for $40.
A team rate is available for 12 players at $200, and 15 players at $300. Teams must preregister to receive this rate.
Camp participants should bring a bat, helmet and a glove. The first 30 players to preregister receive a Calhoun softball shirt.

n Decatur Parks and Recreation is accepting teams for the summer adult slow pitch softball leagues.
Games, which will be played at the Wilson Morgan softball complex, are for leagues consisting of men’s and women’s independents, men’s and women’s church, men’s industrial and co-ed.
League fees are $475 if paid by March 4. The fees paid from March 4 to 11 are $525 per team.
The seasons will begin April 15.
League meetings are Feb. 11 at the Fort Decatur Recreation Center.
Men’s and women’s church teams meet at 6 p.m.
Men’s and women’s independent teams meet at 7 p.m.
Men’s industrial and co-ed teams meet at 8 p.m.

n Decatur girls softball registration is set for Tuesday and Feb. 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Academy Sports.
