Only night we eat out is on Sunday. My wife likes a glass of wine. We drive to Madison or Huntsville. Otherwise, I can't see where it's going to make3 any visible adverse effect on life in Decatur.
Surely the drinkers of this city can do without alcohol one day a week. If you want to drive to Madison.. that is up to you. Who cares.
I hate having to drive to Madison to get my drink on. Its hard to find a 40oz of Schlitz.
Surely the gluttons of Decatur could live a day without buffets too, but that will never happen. I'm sure it's MUCH safer for a true alcoholic to drive to Madison and drink all the way home than to run to the corner store. As for restaurants, people "getting their drink on" aren't consuming large quantities in restaurants and if they are any night of the week will suffice. Is the issue alcohol or proving how 'holy' one is by NOT drinking. I'm pretty sure God is present everyday of the week not just Sunday so what is REALLY the big deal - church is in session, well we should all be living the message everyday!
Carol. it's not all about the "drinkers on sunday".
The fact that we don't have sunday sales keep a LOT of restaurants from opening here at all. So it limits us the other 6 days of the week also on an opportunity for the city to grow.
While I consider myself a christian and I'm VERY active in my church, I see nothing wrong with an occasional drink. I look forward to the day when I can go out to eat, in Decatur, after church and have a drink if I so desire. If you don't believe in drinking or don't like it, enjoy the company at your own table and let God do the judging.
"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise". Proverbs 20:1 You don't like this quote, you are wrong, not the author.
"Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for thy stomach's sake and thine often infirmities." 1 Timothy 5:23
Please stop with the bible verses, you are making a fool of yourselves in a wave of false pride and vain glory and a mockery of God's word and the intelligence of the readers here. Believe it or not this is the bible belt and a lot of us are familiar with the bible. Using the bible one verse (with no context) is misleading and immature.
"Eat, drink and be merry, for tomorrow we die".
