Transcript of a recording that led to a suspension of Lauderdale County High School teacher and head football coach Bob Grisham:
Grisham: Like those lunches - you get 600-calorie lunches - you know who's behind that?
Different voice: Michelle Obama
Grisham: Fat butt Michelle Obama
(Giggling in background)
Grisham: And look … look at her. She looks like she weighs 185 or 190. She's overweight.
Different voice: Big fat gorilla
(laughter)
Grisham: I'm serious. Y'all, our country is, is, is going in the wrong direction.
Different voice: It's going straight to hell.
Grisham: You'd better be aware of it. And people running around like, oh it'll get better, it'll get better. No, it ain't gone get no better until things change. I can give you example after example of that, but I don't want to use any local names to give you examples. Things won't get better until there's a change in some areas and stuff. And you know what his platform was? Change. We're gone change. We're all … aw it's OK …. for … and … y'all can get pissed off at me or not. You can go tell the principal, you can call the superintendent and tell her. I don't believe in queers, I don't like queers. I don't … I don't hate them as a person but what they do is wrong, it's an abomination against God. I don't like being around queers.

He sounds a lil ignorant in the way he is speaking but the point of his lecture is basically the truth.
Out of curiosity, what law did he break?
He only said what 90 percent of the population think, but aren't willing to say outloud!!!!
A couple of weeks ago Pope Benedict, a man not given over to frivolity, endorsed a study determining that open homosexuality could bring about the end of humankind. While believers and non-believers differ on a wide range of issues, only the mentally disabled fail to appreciate the Pope Benedict's learning and dismiss outright his sober reflection. St. Augustine, Confucius, Martin Luther, Siddartha Gautema (the Buddha), St. Paul, and the remainder of the world's greatest intellects of all time all inveigh in writing against institutional homosexuality, (in the West this would take the form of enshrining homosexuality into law as the Obama Administration advocates). There are no great intellectual works in the whole of human history that promote open homosexuality in any society, not because it is new to humanity and no society has ever had to deal with it, but, just the opposite. Open homosexuality has produced an unrelieved historical record of disastrous results. The American public is not comforted by Britney Spears', The Decatur Daily's, Snooki's and President Obama's assurances that open homosexuality will not harm society.
I understand that this was taped on some kid's cell phone. I thought using a cell phone in school was against school policy. And why was the coach talking about this anyway? Did someone set him up with a question?
@ Otis, as I'm a history teacher that has devoted his entire life to the study of history, sociology, and political science and you appear to be an ignorant bigot, maybe I can shed some light on a subject you feel so passionately about, yet seemingly know nothing about. Homosexuality was openly practiced in ancient Greece, in Spartan society, some native American cultures, and gays have been present pretty much everywhere else all throughout history in one form or another. You might be familiar with Greek culture, as most of western society is based on it. Homosexuality has been around since the dawn of man and so far, hasn't brought an end to all humankind. Furthermore, you don't seem to be in any position to comment on intellectualism and since your small mind is obviously incapable of doing any worthwhile research, I'll leave you with a list of a few gay men that you might of heard of: Alexander the Great, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Oscar Wilde, Walt Whitman, Leonardo Da Vinci, Socrates, Lord Byron, Marcel Proust, Michelangelo, Harvey Milk, Pope John XII, Langston Hughes, Eleanor Roosevelt, J. Edgar Hoover, Aristotle, Peter the Great, Hadrian (Roman Emperor), Michel Foucault (one the greatest modern philosophers), Francis Bacon- the list goes on. Those are just a few notable people in the long history of homosexuality. So next time you decide to spread your version of ignorant hate and make false claims about gays and intellectualism, just compare your accomplishments to the founders of western civilization and ask yourself: do I have the education and mental capacity to tackle the issue of society and gays? Let me help you out: NO. So go back to school, read a few history books, study different cultures, and just maybe you can become informed enough to have a respectable opinion on the subject and will be less likely to doom mankind to ruin over two men holding hands. Wake up Otis, you promote nothing but bigotry and ignorance and have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. I know 16 year old high school students that are more informed than you. keep that nonsense to yourself because people like you were saying the same thing about "race-mixing" 40 years ago, women's suffrage before that, and slavery before that.
He only spoke what the majority of people think. I agree with Calhoun!
There is a reason that neither scholars nor school children study the great homosexual civilizations of the past. Obviously.
@ Kenneth, the comment to which you responded made five points, none of which you addressed:
1. The pope did in fact make his statement ex officio.
2. While many disagree with Pope Benedict, few find him stupid.
3. The minds that conceived and whose thoughts shaped the world's great living civilizations do, in fact, oppose in writing,
open homosexuality.
4. What great work in the whole of history encourages unbridled homosexuality in a civilization? (Many seeking to reconcile homosexual marriage with their Christianity here in America would flock to bookstores to gain understanding. Could you please name one?)
5. Even though the president advocates for homosexual law, the American public is struggling with the issue.
The comment does not, as you imply, deny homosexual existence and contribution. Your mention of Spartan "homosexuality", however, requires qualification. In modern America, the difference between consensual homosexual relations and pedophilia is generally a boy's eighteenth birthday, but, sadly, not so in ancient Sparta. Most historians, even the homosexual historians, hold that this is one of the reasons that the Athenian model was copied instead, and, that the Spartan model has never since been resurrected. By the way, you may continue the name-calling, but, it bores me.
Kenneth ... I sure as hell don't want you teaching your perverted version of history to my children.
Otis, you made my day. I have followed your comments a long time and even though I do not know you, I knew you had plenty for this "teacher" who probably should not be involved in the lives of school aged children with his views.
Never mind everything else... Am I the only one that saw Eleanor Roosevelt in the teacher's list of gay men? Eyebrow raiser for sure... But maybe I am not as "Schooled" in history as the writer. I was taught she was First Lady during Frank's stint as President.. Oh well, go figure. ;)
Good point "comments"! Having viewed only photographs and old film footage of Eleanor Roosevelt, I have long suspected she was a gay man.
Patrick, I share your sentiment. Thank you for your kind words.
"coments" and "Otis", if you had kept up in studying homosexual troughout history, you'd know Elanor Roosevelt was actually a gay man, LOL. My question is why they think they have to let the world know they are gay? I don't really care what people do in the privacy of their own homes, so I don't need to know if you are gay, straight, or undecided.
Most homosexuals don't "have to let the world know they are gay". They simply live their lives as they wish and others stick their nose into business that is not their own. What's funny is that every single homophobe on here has been served by, is working beside, studied under, (and the list goes on) someone who is homosexual. One of the professions with the greatest concentration of homosexuals is the medical field. At some point in our lives we are all served by people in this profession. May God bless each and every one of them. Particularly homosexuals who nurture bigoted idiots with the same tenderness and skill as they would their own mother.
