Decatur Police apprehended three juveniles at West Decatur Elementary School overnight.

Decatur police arrested three juveniles who broke into West Decatur Elementary School on Monday night, Decatur City Schools Supervisor of Safety Dwight Satterfield said.

The juveniles - two fifth-graders and a sixth-grader - were caught as they exited the building, Satterfield said.

He said the juveniles were still in the school when authorities arrived at the school at about 8:30 p.m.

“We’ve had a number of break-ins at the school over the past couple of weeks and changed security procedures,” Satterfield said.

He said the fifth-graders were West Decatur Elementary students. Satterfield said he is meeting with parents this morning and it wasn’t immediately clear where the sixth grader attended school.

I'm sure they just forgot their homework assignment and went back to get it.

Dear parents, please try to know where your children are and what they might be up to.

the parents probably sent them there to break in

lol

Three real future winners there.

What happened to the rule that children were supposed to come home when the streetlights came on? & why weren't the parents out looking for them? Most of us wouldn't be around to read a story like this if we had broken that rule while growing up.

wow, i broke into my sisters bedroom when i was in 5th grade & got my a&& wore out with a switch...that i had to pick myself. it sends chills up my spine to think what my parents would have done had i broke into a school.(or anywhere for that matter) but there again, we wouldnt been out after dark exspecially on a school night
