Proved that a # 1 college team, Notre Dame, couldn't compete with the pros.
Notre Dame didn't deserve to be in this game when you look at how they played and who they just squeezed by, but because they're Notre Dame and went thru undefeated the media just loved them and tried to make them greater and better than sliced bread. Oregon, Florida and Louisville all have a better team and would have played Alabama a closer game. You could see from this game ND didn't know what to do with faster and more skilled players. I kept looking for this highly ranked defense but it never showed up. This defense was all made up by the press, ND' " great " linebacker was so lost he looked like a high school player at times. When you're playing lower level teams, they make your defense look great, and you're able to put up great numbers only to be exposed when a real team shows up. Coach Kelly's answer at half on how they could get back into the game was a classic, if Alabama didn't show up. Enjoyed the game with Alabama making so many sports people eat their words, mostly Lou Hoots
