United Launch Alliance successfully launched a Boeing GPS satellite today from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida.
The ULA Delta IV rocket, built in Decatur, performed according to expectations, according to a statement by Boeing. Boeing is joint owner of ULA and manufactured the satellite.
Today's launch was the ninth ULA launch this year and the 65th launch since ULA was formed nearly six years ago.
The satellite will replace an aging GPS satellite launched in 1993.
