United Launch Alliance, a Boeing and Lockheed Martin joint venture, won a $1.17 billion U.S. Air Force contract to provide launch capability for two rockets, the Defense Department announced Friday.
United Launch Alliance‘s services subsidiary, United Launch Services, will perform contract work on the Delta IV and Atlas V rockets in Littleton, Colo., through Sept. 30, 2013.
ULA employs 800 at its Decatur facility, which assembles both the Atlas V and Delta IV.
