AUBURN (AP) — Sophomore Troy Dixon's 232 rushing yards and three long touchdowns led UMS-Wright to a 42-14 victory over top-ranked Oneonta in the AHSAA Class 4A state championship game today at Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Dixon's first score was a 52-yarder to give the Bulldogs (13-2) a 14-7 lead. Oneonta (14-1) came back with Tyler Smith's 5-yard run to tie the game with 2:53 remaining in the first half. Dixon, the game's MVP, scored on a 61-yarder 51 seconds later to put UMS-Wright ahead again.
Bulldogs quarterback Gunner Roach threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Dixon's brother, T.J., with 6:13 remaining in the third quarter to extend the lead to 28-14. Linebacker KJ Traywick intercepted a screen pass and returned it for a 19-yard score with 5:58 left.
Troy Dixon's final run of the game was a 74-yard touchdown with 3:03 remaining.
