UNA’s Alexander conference offensive player of week

BIRMINGHAM — University of North Alabama quarterback Chris Alexander has been selected Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced today.

Alexander, a junior from Lake Butler, Fla., completed 9-of-10 passes for 126 yards and a touchdown Saturday in the Lions’ 41-0 homecoming win over Shorter.

Alexander also scored the game’s first touchdown on a 4-yard run in the second quarter. He threw a 33-yard touchdown strike to Melvin Harris later in the quarter, giving UNA a 21-0 halftime lead.

UNA, now 4-1 overall and 2-0 in GSC play, travels to Kingsville, Texas, to take on the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelinas at 7 p.m. Saturday.
