US can survive cuts
Budget standoff seen only as a ‘fiscal speed-bump’ to economy
By Paul Wiseman

WASHINGTON — As economic policy goes, experts said, the automatic spending cuts that kick in Friday are — to use a technical term — bone-headed. More »

Obviously this lady does not live in North Alabama. These cuts are going to impact the local economy and may families will be suffering. The trickle down to the economy will be felt here. There is no way around it. When you cut 25,000 people's salary by 20% there is going to be an impact. I think folks are just tired of the cry wolf syndrome, but it something does not change with this sequestration, things are going to get very bad.

They've done studies, you know. Sixty percent of the time, it works every time.

News flash.....We are still in a recession. Gasoline is as high right now in North Alabama as it has ever been. Unemployment has stablized around 8% only because the unemployed have drawn all they can and are no longer counted in the calculations. I don't know one single family that is better off than they were 4 years ago. On the contrary, I know plenty that have gone backwards, lost their jobs, homes, etc. More Washington Hooey!

From CNN: President Obama says "dumb, arbitrary" forced spending cuts that take effect today are unnecessary and inexcusable. “Let’s be clear. None of this is necessary. It’s happening because of a choice that Republicans in Congress have made,” he said. . . . . . . . So how can he justify a million dollar golf outing with Tiger Woods, a multi million dollar vacation for his wife and kids, and John Kerry announcing yesterday $60 million in aide to Syrian rebels? How bout stop taking vacations and cut foreign aide until we get our own house in order.

It isn't a question that we need to get our spending under control in this country, however when we send people to represent our interests in Congress we should and I believe we do expect them to work together to solve our problems and to compromise even when ideologically divided. This is the worst kind of reality show, people's lives will be affected. The trickle down effect will become a flood before you know it. Northern Alabama is a huge recipient of the federal dollars invested here by the Arsenal, contractors, federal and military both active and retired and their families. The affects of sequestration will not be felt until about April by the general population, however it WILL be felt believe me you can count on it!

This cut is a joke, multiply this cut times 100 and we are talking! Federal goverment is out of control and needs to be cut to the bone.
