Oh please.....no more Sweetwater deals paid for with Sunday alcohol sales tax revenues or a higher sales tax !!

I can see it now,,,,SUPERSTORE for alcohol at the junction of Hwy 20 and I-65!!! My mouth is watering already!! Just think of the taxes the city coul d receive. That idea sure beats the he** out of a ffishing store. What are we waiting for? Let's gitter done!!!

The front page news and the continuous antics of the DPD are the reasons no one wants to come here.

You might as well face it; this place is going to dry up and blow away; and that is great! You are getting just what you asked for years ago when you opted to have the airport go to Huntsville in the 60's and 70's. You were worried about the traffic it would cause. The Daily's front page today is complaining about the increased truck traffic and how horrible it is already and how much "worse" it will allegedly be in 2035. If you are here looking for a place to put a truck terminal and you ride into Decatur and see the police with 3 or 4 trucks pulled over and then you grab the Daily and look at the front page, are you going to bring your business here? I dare say the answer is "no". You folks need to examine your ultra-conservative mind set and decide what you really want, dormancy and the ultimate demise of the city, or prosperity.

The lady running the beer store shouldn't have to worry about working on Sunday; the city shouild reduce its operatinng expense and take away the city vehicles being driven around on the taxpayer's $2.70 per gallon gasoline. This is sheer lunacy in today's economic times! Get control of the city government and have them be more respectful to the people they are supposed to be serving.

It is time for the state of Alabama to wake up and enter the 20th century; it is not ready for the 21st century. If alcohol is to be sold, sell it everywhere in the state and every day of the week with no exceptions. Either sell it or don't sell it. If you sell it, expect people to consume it and have open containers and expect all the bad stuff that goes along with. Yes, there will be accidents involving alcohol concumption and people will lose their lives and/or good health. That goes with it. I still applaude the lady who beat up the drunk driver who hurt her daughter and I always will do so.

Please decide the alcohol issue on a state wide level; local governments like ours lack the good or common sense to deal with such matters.

Thanks, Bill Dukes for your bill involving bingo; that will certainly help the economy here also! We don't want to burden the employees at the city hall and courthouse with having to collect all those tax revenues do we? Is it okay to play bingo with a million dollar prize and have someone lose all their family's savings if they use a card rather than a machine? How ridiculous.

It is not surprising that a Morgan County native came up with that idea. I thought he was above such trivial things; I wonder who paid him off?

To the poster above: Are you posting about this story? About high air fares out of the Jetport? Or did you mean your post to be paired with a different story?
