GREAT JOB SHERIFF GENE MITCHELL AND INVESTIGATORS. This is great work and now if the Judges will only do their part which i believe they will Judge Craig is do an excellent job.

Thanks Sheriff Mitchell for providing the leadership that was needed in that Department.

When will we start seeing headlines that read..."Gene Mitchell Gets Haircut, Looks Good", or "Gene Mitchell Believes In Santa", how about "Gene Mitchell Loves Dogs, Thinks You Should Too". The only leadership Gene Mitchell has showed at our Lawrence County Sheriffs Department is Nepotism and how to handle the press. He is the master in that arena. Everyone is doing their job, following leads, making arrests. When Gene Mitchell issues a press release taking credit for something he didn't do...Not cool.

to me that just shows good leadership. you dont hire someone to take the job, you hire someone who can and will do the job. seems to me in the last year or two there have been a lot of dope dealers, and burglers taken off the street. as far as the press conference, that is the way it is done all over the world. every sheriff handles the press, and i did not see where he took any of the "credit" for the bust. he did say THE INVESTIGATORS developed the info and made the arrest. why does it bother you who takes the credit anyway, the crooks are off the street. do you realy believe that there has not been a politician in lawrence county who has not hired a "friend, or relative". i dont know for sure, but i bet he does like dogs. i like all the crooks being taken off the street, no matter what county it is.

insert big o in place of gene mitchell and you will get national headlines. i do know that lawrence has changed greatly since becoming a bedroom community for huntsville, and decatur, and those peoples votes are doing away with the good ol boy gangs, and putting in place people who do a good job. do you want someone in office who gets the job done, or not, thats the question you should be asking everyone. that "they said", or "i heard" crap dont get it in todays world, you got a complaint, go to the person with it, dont sit around and bitc$ about it. im just stating my opinion, if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it must be a duck.

I didn't think you did...Here is an idea...Unless you live here; see it, hear it, live it everyday, you might want to do a little more research instead of reading this obviously slanted publication and then using it to espouse your opinion on subjects you know little or nothing about. Debate is good, knowledge is power, but sadly politics play a major role in The Daily's subjective, not objective reporting everyday.
