To The Daily: According to Automotive News, the sales price of the Chevrolet Volt at many dealerships does not justify the cost of special tools needed to repair and service the vehicles.
Some dealers are unable to sell enough of the range-extended electric cars to make up for the cost of parts. With a requirement to sell just five Volts to break even on the cost of the tools, many dealers are instead opting out of the Volt Authorized Dealer program.
It’s just another example of government waste that will be footed by the taxpayers.

Volt is stupid. Tbone is stupid racist.
well here's how i see it if two dealerships opt out then the third will pick up the business and therfore it's now more profitable for the one to do it. Isn't that called capitalism.
Only more profitable if the two who opt out were selling enough to boost the third over the 5 car break even point. Since we don't know how many each was selling other than it is under 5, there isn't enough information to say if it's profitable on any level.
No one said that you would be barred from selling them and if repairs were needed they could refer you to the other dealer who has the compacity to made repairs, the repairs are usally done from a warranty and it's them that would direct you to a place.
