Decatur residents say economy, education, revitalization top issues
Like numerous other Decatur voters who offered their take on Tuesday’s municipal elections, Pamela Cunningham said she probably won’t make a decision on the mayoral race until she steps up to … More »

No offense to Tony Weikert, but Dumb Standford doesn't have a lot of people behind him - except for those pushing him out of office. 3 MORE DAYS TILL "LAME-DUCK-DON"!!!

I think Kyle will go to bed Tuesday night having earned the most votes. That isn't a bad thing, because we are certainly guaranteed a run-off. We are still giving strong consideration to casting both votes for Cole, hoping that would help him enter the run-off with Kyle. Jackson's district will carry Busbey and she has small pockets of support throughout the city. We do not need her back at City Hall. Look out for Cole in the run-off. While Kyle has worked hard to-date, I expect Cole to surge during the run-off portion and we will have a tight race.

@ Limestone......I agree, but with one caveat, Kyle will win again !

Cole is the best candidate, but either Cole or Kyle will be acceptable.

Standford did a good job, but we need to get away from the good old boy sound/image of Kyle & Standford.

Cole will set an image of a progressive community.

Cole is the man that can move this city forward, along with

District 1 Arthur Warror

District 2 Roger Anders

District 3 Gary Hammonn

District 5 Allison Blackburn Akins

Akins did not receive the endorsement.

Endorsement from who ?

so who ever receives a endoresement is who wins? So our votes mean nothinig Dave?

Cole can get enough of district one's support without billy Jackson to beat Busby in a runoff. I don't think Kyle can unless he cuts a deal with Billy Jackson. I'm torn because Stanford got a bum deal because of Busby but Cole stands the best chance of keeping Busby and Jackson out of power. So, I will pass on voting for a good man Don Stanford and will vote for Cole.

Endorsements don't mean a thing ,Busby and Jackson were both endorsed by Dukes. Let's wake up Decatur these special intrest group endorsements are why Decatur is in the mess it is.

For those still undecided and others, here is a brief review of how we got here: In 2008 The Decatur Daily and Councilman Jackson mobilized against Don Kyle. Mr. Stanford, with that help, carries only District 1 and wins by a little over 300 votes. With that, City Hall infighting begins resulting in the Council hiring an "assistant mayor" to cover the shortcomings. Responding to that leadership void some citizens started, and with The Decatur Daily fanning the flames, we got a referendum to "change" from Mayor/Council to Council/City Manger form of government. It won; and, though fraught with legal complications, we will be getting a City Council hired "City Manager" who will not ever be directly accountable to voters. Over the past few weeks leading to now, The Decatur Daily, The Chamber of Commerce and one candidate in particular have elevated our de facto “assistant mayor”, Mr. Terry, to an "anointed" status with a pre-determined appointment to the City Manager job. Bottom line, our choices now are between the two infighters; an unseasoned, relatively inexperienced, historically Democrat, progressive lawyer extending to us the "Hope and Change" mantra [and probable return to undisciplined spending]; and, Don Kyle, the one in the race steeped with a history of negotiating skills, financial management, executive, industrial and retail experience who will once again propel us forward. Whoever we elect will have to deal with conversion to Council/Manager government within the law. We need a mayor who will devote full time and attention to Decatur’s economic health and growth. Vote for the reasoned maturity and experience of Don Kyle who will resume and accelerate forward motion.

Standford did a horrible job and can't be booted from office soon enough. Anyone but Standford and Anders.

We are going to be legally bound to hire a city manager. Why should we pay Kyle 110,000 a year to do what Wally Terry is doing now? It makes no sense. Kyle actually told me he would just let the lawyers figure it out. That isn't a good answer. We need someone who can take the bull by the horns. That isn't Kyle.

Then who is it William?

Vote BUSBEY!! 42+ years EXPERIENCE.

"william", you don't have a clue!! And, "Jimmy", 42+ plus years of what?! Obviously you don't know...but ripping the city off, allowing subordinate's to steal over $300,000, bungling everything that needed someone with some common sense....yea, that's the 42+ plus years of experience!!!!

Busbey still has MY VOTE! I chose to ASK Busbey what REALLY HAPPENED instead of believing the Decatur Daily and their half written truth. Maybe you should go ask before you just believe what you read. Then you will see what a wonderful job she did do for the 42+ years. So "Decatur" YOU are the one that obviously don't know!

I love Kenneth talking about Kyle like he's ever been good at anything. He got fired from the banking industry. List his boat repair business and his negotiating skills lost the basspro development. Kyle just needs a job. He hasn't been in any business for almost ten years.

I Think That BUSBEY Will Win, Kyle Will Come In Second Place, Then Cole, Sanford Will Be Last

Kyle to runoff vs Busbey/Cole

LAME-DUCK-DON-STANDFORD!! Currently, he's just LAME, but tomorrow night, he becomes a DUCK!! Woo-Hoo! Dumbo goes home!

My prediction: Kyle vs. Cole in a runoff.

I hope that Kyle wins. He's a fine man, I attend church with him, and he's the only one that's PROVEN he can do the job. Mr. Terry is stretched too thin because he is wearing three hats, and he is doing the de facto Mayor's job right now, only without the title. Cole sounds like the other Mr. Hopey and Changey we have in office --" I'll kiss the babies, and I'll give you a bargain of only HALF the mayor's salary to do it [while I run my law practice out of the Mayor's office, on your dime]." No thank you, I've had enough of the Hopey-Changey-Thingy to last me a lifetime.

Let's face it -- if Stanford hadn't done such a horrible job as mayor, Decatur would have NEVER voted to go city manager/council. Mr. Terry is doing a great job with all that he's been given, but what about when he is gone? Will you all be happy with the NEXT city manager, that you cannot choose by elected vote? Fix the incompetence at the top.

Busbey -- what a joke -- maybe she and Loretta Spencer can get together and figure out how to rob ANOTHER municipality that hasn't heard of them yet.

You've never met Cole have you "Rebecca"?
