Wilson posts wins over Loretto and Tharptown

FLORENCE — Wilson continued its winning ways Monday, sweeping matches from Loretto and Tharptown.

The wins came two days after the Warriors, ranked No. 3 in Class 4A, finished 3-1 in a tournament in Guntersville in which they posted wins against three teams ranked in the top 10 in their respective classifications.

On Monday, the Warriors beat Loretto 25-18, 25-16 and followed that with a win against Tharptown 25-14, 25-7.

Wilson 2, Loretto 0: Against Loretto, Ciarra Edwards had 15 kills, four blocks and three aces while Lexie Bradley finished with 10 kills and two blocks.

Jennifer Schroeder contribnuted nine digs and Harlee Murphy added six digs. Brianna Terrell had 22 assists.

Rachel Burden had 10 digs for Loretto, BrinLee Glass dished out 13 assists and Mackenzie Childress had four kills, six digs and a block.

Wilson 2, Tharptown 0: Edwards and Bradley combined for eight kills, while Ashley Arreola had three kills in the win for the Warriors (33-8).

Murphy had four aces while Emily Mason had six digs. Mason and Terrell combined for 17 assists.

Loretto 2, Tharptown: Rachel Burden totaled eight kills, seven digs, three blocks and an ace, as Loretto rebounded with a 25-8, 25-14 win in the tri-match.

Childress added six kills, five aces and six digs for the Mustangs (20-8). Glass had 17 assists, and Sabrie Sirmones had five kills, four digs and a block.

Waterloo splits: Waterloo lost to Mars Hill, 25-9, 25-12, before rebounding with a 25-13, 25-14 win against Colbert County in a tri-match.

Brittany Young had a combined seven kills and 13 digs in the two matches for the Cougars, while Bradi Morris had 18 digs and 11 assists.
