TUSCUMBIA — A Tuscumbia couple continued receiving treatment in Huntsville Hospital on Monday, while the person accused of wrecking their vehicle in a hit-and-run accident was taken into custody, authorities said.

Robert Leon Lanford, 69, 860 Leslie Ave., Tuscumbia, and his wife, Dorothy H. Lanford, 68, were flown to Huntsville Hospital after the accident. Hospital spokeswoman Pam Sparks said Dorothy Lanford is in fair condition in the surgical intensive care unit, while her husband also is listed in fair condition.

Tuscumbia police detective Steve Higginbotham said Pamela Cabler Bostick, 50, 303 Fourth Ave., Tuscumbia, is charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, driving under the influence and resisting arrest.

Bostick was not injured in the wreck, police said.

The crash, which was reported at 9:01 p.m., was near Ebony Drive and U.S. 72, just west of the Alabama Music Hall of Fame.

Police said Bostick was driving a 2000 red Chevrolet Impala. Witnesses reported that Bostick’s vehicle was traveling east in the westbound lane of U.S. 72.

“Apparently, she realized what she was doing and went to turn around,” Higginbotham said. “When that happened, she collided with the other car.”

The Lanfords were in a 2009 Chevrolet Impala.

The collision knocked the Lanfords’ car off the roadway and into a ditch.

Higginbotham said witnesses got the license plate number from Bostick’s car as she was leaving the scene.

“Officers began trying to locate her and found her back at her house about 9:30 p.m.,” Higginbotham said.

Reports indicate Bostick became irate and started trying to fight the officers as they attempted to arrest her,

She remains in the Tuscumbia City Jail without bail.
