This is easy. You won't have to go find jobs for the inmates. You give them the jobs of documented and work visa workers who work for the city, county, and private sector. Instead of paying for people to come from other countries and do the job americans won't do, put these prisoners in their postions. The ditch and alley crew that was just hired for keeping Decatur ditches and alleys clean would be a great start. The guys who are always picking up trash on the Beltline and mowing the rights of way. All the workers at chicken plants who come from other countries to do these jobs because americans won't do them, put them there. Let them start a garden to feed other people in the county jail. Pay them minimum wage and start the garden to feed the prisoners. Let them walk the streets and pick up litter that is plaguing this city and county. The city and county are paying someone to do this, why not the prisoners? I read an article back last year how that company in Huntsville is spending thousands and thousands of dollars for workers to come from overseas to work at their plant and providing housing for them. I can't remember the name of this company, but they do the cds and dvds. This is easy, but I know they always say it is a liability to have people in jail doing manual labor or working for their stay. It shouldn't be a free ride! CinRam is the name of the company. Here is a link to just one of the stories about foreign workers and why we should have prisoners doing these jobs. http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x2797750

j you saved me a whole lot of typing! Let the prisoners work to grow their food, cook. clean and provide community services such as grounds work. It's just not that hard - they SHOULD work for thier keep!
