The bishop of the United Methodist Church's North Alabama Conference requested that churches suspend in-person worship services and gatherings until at least April 13, the day after Easter Sunday.

Bishop Debra Wallace-Padgett originally issued the suspension for two weeks beginning March 16.

When churches resume in-person worship depends on when health officials and the CDC ease restrictions, Wallace-Padgett wrote in a post Wednesday.
