Target introduced a new loyalty program on Sunday.
Target Circle offers hundreds of deals, cash back and coupons to shoppers enrolled in the free program, the company announced in early September.
Rewards include 1% back on all purchases, personalized coupons, early access to deals and special sales and a “birthday surprise,” which will be 5% off a shopping trip. Members also will get to vote to direct Target’s charitable initiatives to 800 nonprofits.
Customers using Cartwheel offers in the Target app and REDcard credit and debit cardholders will automatically be enrolled in the new program, according to the news release. REDcard holders will still received 5% off.
The Minneapolis-based chain said it plans to rebrand the Cartwheel savings tool as Target Circle offers and will freshen the credit card marketing, the company said.
“Our guests are at the center of everything we do, and we’re always looking for ways to create even easier, more rewarding shopping experiences that give them another reason to choose Target,” said Rick Gomez, the chain’s chief marketing and digital officer, in the release. “We worked directly with guests to develop Target Circle, and the program includes the benefits and perks they told us were most important to them, from earning on every trip to having the opportunity to help Target make a positive impact in their local communities.”
Two million customers tested the new loyalty program for 18 months in Dallas, Denver and Phoenix, among other cities, while voting to donate more than half a million dollars to local nonprofit organizations, Target said.
