Lawrence County has its first confirmed case of the new coronavirus, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health website.

The website, updated at 5 p.m. Wednesday, showed Lawrence County with the case. Limestone County has six cases and Morgan County has five, according to the website.

Later in the evening, Gov. Kay Ivey confirmed the state has had its first coronavirus-related death. She did not provide details.
