The county school systems in Lawrence, Morgan and Limestone are dismissing early today because of the threat of severe weather.

Hartselle and Athens City systems have canceled after-school activities.

Lawrence County and Morgan County school systems are dismissing at 1 p.m.

Limestone County Schools' dismissal times will be 1:10 p.m. for elementary schools and 1:30 for high schools.

"A round of significant storms is supposed to enter our area within a couple hours of this dismissal time," Lawrence County Schools said on Twitter. "The forecasts for these storms vary, which creates several issues. This early dismissal will allow all of our students and staff members to safely travel home."
