A Hartselle woman is in jail for allegedly using a person’s credit card to make purchases without their permission, the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Carson Carlisle Chapman, 25, 2110 Autumnwood Drive, is charged with first-degree identity theft after purchasing designer shoes, cellphone service and an inmate phone, the Sheriff’s Office said. The Sheriff’s Office said Chapman admitted to the fraudulent purchases Sunday.

On Wednesday, investigators contacted Chapman using the shoe order, tracking information and internet protocol address, the office said.

Chapman was booked into the Morgan County Jail with bail set at $5,000.
