ATHENS — The cold weather didn’t bother Clements pitcher Cole Wales on Monday. He tossed a five-inning no-hitter in Clements’ 11-1 win over Tanner.
Wales struck out six, walked two and one unearned run scored. He also had two hits, two walks and four runs scored.
Brady Moore went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Holden Graves went 2-for-2 with a double and a RBI.
Lawrence County 12, East Lawrence 2: The Red Devils jumped out to a 9-1 lead after three innings.
For Lawrence County, Garrett Lee went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Micah Owens and Chandler Daniel each scored two runs. Jacob Shelton drove in two runs. Winning pitcher Ty Hutto gave up one hit and one run in four innings.
East Lawrence had base hits from William Hurst and Brayden Allen.
Athens 6, West Limestone 3: The Golden Eagles tied the game in the top of the seventh and scored three to win it in the top of the eighth. Tucker Stockman singled in what proved to be the game-winning run.
For Athens, Ty Heery tripled and drove in a run. James Clem and Lars Stanford both had doubles. Slaton Black was the winning pitcher. Starter Isaac Evans allowed one hit and no earned runs in six innings with six strikeouts.
Devin Carter had West Limestone’s lone hit. He scored two runs.
Late Saturday games
Athens 4, Lee 1: Winning pitcher Jack Garvin allowed two hits and struck out seven in five innings to get the win.
Athens 17-12, Saint John Paul II 0-2: In the first game, winning pitcher Stanford tossed a five-inning no-hitter while striking out 11. Dylan Johnston, Bailey O’Dell, Clem and Stockman all had multiple hits for Athens. In the second game, Jaelan Cates and Josh Simmons had multiple hits for Athens.
Falkville 12, Cherokee 2: Nobody had a hotter bat than Falkville’s Makenzie Veal on Monday. She hit two home runs, drove in four runs and scored three runs. Teammate Sydnee Fitzgerald went 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and two runs scored. Kameryn Scales went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. She was also the winning pitcher.
Lawrence County 3, East Lawrence 1: Rylie Terry and Scarlett Jones both slugged home runs in the Red Devils’ win. Patti Anne Smith struck out six in the complete game victory. Brooklyn Letson had two hits for East Lawrence.
Late Saturday games
Hartselle 5, Sumiton Christian 3: The Tigers rallied Saturday to score the winning runs in the bottom of the sixth inning on Emily Cowart’s two-run walk-off home run. Kalli Cartee had two doubles. Kylie Winton also doubled. Jenna Smith was the winning pitcher in relief of starter Morgyn Sparkman.
Hartselle 9, Dothan 2: Mackenzie Jackson and Cowart both homered and each drove in three runs. Jenna Smith was the winning pitcher.
Hartselle 3, Chelsea 1: Kalli Cartee had three hits and two RBIs. Jada Henderson had two hits.
Priceville 3, East Lawrence 2: Hannah Smyth doubled and Ashlyn McDonald had two hits for Priceville. Briley Pitt homered and drove in both East Lawrence runs.
Priceville 2, Elkmont 0: Abigaill Garrison tripled and drove in a run for Priceville. Bentley Black doubled and drove in a run. Winning pitcher Steffani Schrader allowed just one hit in five innings.
Wilson 4, Priceville 0: Garrison had both of Priceville’s hits in the loss to Wilson.
Huntsville 6, Priceville 4: Reagan Walter had a three-run home run for the Bulldogs. Taylor Dean added a double.
The Calhoun women competed recently in Mobile and finished third (579) in the 36-hole completion behind Wallace State and Marion Military.
Calhoun’s Nicole Shanafelt led the Warhawks with a sixth-place finish (189). Teammates Mckayla Stover (192) was seventh and Kayla James (198) finished 12th.
