The Cornerstone Christian Academy Cougars recently won the Alabama Christian Athletic Association Division II state basketball championship.

Jarrett Grubbs’ layup in the closing seconds gave Cornerstone a 72-71 overtime victory over Adullam House Christian Academy of Wetumpka in the championship game played in Oxford.

Cornerstone advanced to the finals with a 77-55 win over Glen Iris Baptist School of Birmingham.

Freshman Colter Anders was named the tournament’s MVP after scoring 42 points in the tournament. Grubbs was named to the all-tournament team.

Joining Grubbs and Anders on the Cornerstone roster are Jackson Grubbs, Dylan Bryant, Eli Ward, Oliver Bryant, Jagger Pence, Casen Anders, Dylan Culver, Andrew Marshall, Hugh Evans, Watson Carter, Parker Lemmond and Isaac Ward. Cornerstone (23-5) was coached by Josh Grubbs and Jimmy Lemmond.
